How long have you been in business?
We have been in this location as a paddlesports dealer for nearly 23 years. We changed our name from Pro Canoe & Kayak to GetOutdoors about 13 years ago.
What is your primary product or service?
We are a paddlesports specialty retailer. We sell all types kayak and canoes as well as Stand-up paddleboards, and any accessory that may be needed to go with these sports (paddles, life jackets, safety equipment, clothing/ shoes, car and truck racks, etc). We also teach a variety of kayaking classes and run paddling trips all over the state.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
As the store manager and owner, my background is in outdoor education and leadership, and I have been a paddler for over twenty years. After I graduated from college, I ran a kayak tour company and got into the retail side of things and haven't left yet! My passion is teaching folks about paddlesports and outdoor education. Rather than sell our products, I prefer to teach folks about the how and why of paddlesports and allow them to make a more informed and educated decision.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Knowledge and service. My staff and I are paddlers, we have more than 50 years of combined experience and we continue to learn about our sport. We certainly don't know everything about paddle sports, but we know and lot and we love to share what we know with our clients. We are a full service paddlesports shop, we not only sell kayaks and canoes, but we teach folks how to use them, and we can fix them if they break. We also offer custom outfitting if someone has a specific need. We are also the only shop that offers free demos, all summer long, so folks can try out our boats before making a purchase.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We are a stand alone store and since we only have one store that allows us to really focus on our customers and our programs.

We are located at 1515 West Gate City Blvd/ High Point Rd. in Greensboro between UNCG and the Greensboro Coliseum. Just a few minutes off I-40 and I-85, we are easy to get to whether you are traveling east or west.
What type of payments do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards: VISA, MASTERCARD, AMEX and DISCOVER. We also take personal checks with a valid ID and we of course take cash too.
Which areas do you service?
We service the entire Triad area, but we have customers all over the state of NC, the eastern seaboard, and the entire country.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
Will Seeley is our owner and general manager, he oversees the daily operations, but also teaches classes and leads trips for the company as well.
What are your hours of operation?
We are open year round, Monday- Saturday and we are typically closed on Sundays (we have to paddle sometime). Our standard "summer" hours (April- December) 10am-6pm, and our shortened "winter" hours (January- March) 10am- 5pm.
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
That they are enjoying their paddle craft that we sold them and what a great job my staff had done assisting them.
